Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
This is the points-based visa is for the skilled workers. These workers are not sponsored by a state or territory, an employer or a family member. Once you have this visa in hand, you can live and work permanently wherever you want in Australia. Not just this, your eligible family members can also be encompassed in your application. It is a permanent visa and permits visa-holders to stay in Australia forever that too with full work rights.

Skilled Nominated 190 Visas
The Subclass 190 visa is also called the Skilled Nominated visa. It is a part of Skill select. This visa is specifically for the skilled workers who wish to migrate to Australia as permanent residents and are qualified to be nominated by a territory or state government agency. Every territory and state has its own list of needs that are updated regularly. Apart from the Territory and state requirements, your profession has to be on the Combined List of Eligible Occupations. It is a combination of Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and a few additional occupations on Medium & Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). It was formerly called the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL).
